Bob Marley’s influence on music and culture continues to grow decades after his passing. In 1994, Marley was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, cementing his status as one of the most important artists in modern music history. His impact was further recognized in December 1999, when Time Magazine named his 1977 album “Exodus” the Album of the Century, while the BBC honored “One Love” as the Song of the Millennium.

Since its release in 1984, Marley’s iconic compilation “Legend” has remained one of the best‑selling reggae albums of all time. According to Nielsen SoundScan, it continues to sell over 250,000 copies every year and is one of only 17 albums to surpass 10 million copies sold since SoundScan began tracking sales in 1991.

Although Bob Marley never received a Grammy nomination during his lifetime, the Recording Academy honored him in 2001 with the prestigious Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award—a recognition reserved for artists whose work has made an extraordinary and lasting contribution to the world of recorded music.

That same year, the documentary “Rebel Music,” directed by Jeremy Marre and chronicling Marley’s life and influence, earned a Grammy nomination for Best Long Form Music Video.

In 2001, Marley also received the 2171st star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, joining legendary artists such as Carlos Santana, Stevie Wonder, and The Temptations. This honor, bestowed by the Hollywood Historic Trust and the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, further solidified his place among the most influential musicians in history.
